Today marks our end in Siem Reap and our 6th city in our trip (out of 12 in SEA). The flight isn't until 15:30, so we had a bit of time to chill before heading out. When we did go to check out, the hotel had given us an extra 10% off our food, because my travel adaptor was stuck for a few days in their plug. Not something that was expected but very much appreciated.

Airport experience was pretty uneventful. On the plane though, I was very glad of the noise cancelling earphones as we were stuck between a baby and a very loud American couple. Thank God it was only a 50 minute flight (Hannah doesn't have noise-cancelling headphones).

We didn't have a taxi booked to the hotel, so had to rely one the airport services. We got directed to a guy and made our way to his tuk tuk. We should've realised what he was trying to do when he wouldn't give us an agreed amount for the journey, despite several attempts by us. But we just wanted to get there so we let it go for the moment, having clocked a sign on the way out of the airport saying taxis were $7-9 at peak times to the city, to give us a frame of reference.

The city is a bit more hectic than Siem Reap, as you'd expect for the capital, but still looked pretty good. And we got to see a lot of it in our 45 minute journey, love a good rush hour (ain't noone understand the words that are coming outta your mouth). When we finally got to the hotel, the tuk tuk man had asked us quite a few times if we needed a driver whilst we were here, but weren't in the mood to arrange it, particularly as he wouldn't agree a price for the journey, so kept fobbing him off, and at the end he wanted 15 dollars for the trip. Bearing in mind a taxi for that journey was fixed at $7-9, we weren't happy. In the end I literally just handed him $10 and went into the hotel. If he wanted to complain he could follow us in but he drove off so we figured it was more than fair.

Hotel seems to be in a pretty good location, lots of bars, restaurants and cafes nearby and pretty close to the centre. The room itself is quite nice, although the constant bathroom with no privacy thing is still present (this time there is a door that closes, but the wall facing the bed is one large glass window). Our balcony looks over the independence monument and Wat Langka, so a good view.

It was reasonably late when we got unpacked so we thought we'd just get food in the hotel, up at the rooftop bar, which also houses the pool. The view from the top was pretty good (turns out one of the best in Phnom Penh), same as the balcony, just better. The decor was quite nice as well. However, the food was definitely not up to scratch, even for hotel food. Hannah had some fried rice which didn't even seem properly cooked. But it was sustenance, so that's what we needed.

It was an early night, in theory up and at 'um tomorrow for the first day in Phnom Penh.
