Second day at the temple complex, with checking the weather forecast we'd decided to leave the main event til the last day (and fingers crossed the weather was clear). We were going to check out a group of temples known as the Rolous group, bit further out than all the standard tourists ones.

--- As with part I, more photos in the album than in the post, starts here: https://russ-and-mead.travelmap.net/photos/siem-reap?index=126 ---

The day started early again, which was a good tactic to avoid some of the blazing heat. First up was Preah Ko temple, which means Sacred Bull, another one dedicated to Shiva, the bull was his mount apparently.

Second was Bakong Temple which may or may not be the first temple mountain (don't ask for a definition, we're not sure) constructed in the Khmer empire. It had a modern, working temple next to it which was pretty cool.

Next was Lolei Temple, this was dedicated by the king to his ancestors (and Shiva of course), and also used to be in the middle of the lake, now dried up. This was pretty tiny and in a bad way - lots of scaffolding in place to keep it up. This also had a modern temple next to it which was actually more impressive than the ruins.

Last up was Banteay Srei Temple. This was quite a bit further away again but we'd decided to make the most of our driver and time to see it. This did include going along some "not quite yet built" roads. At one point we had to get out and walk for a few minutes as the tuk tuk couldn't get through the mud. It was cool to see the Cambodian countryside, lots of different houses, stalls, temples and schools to see on the way through. Also the first sighting on 5 people on a motorbike which we've been looking for since we arrived!

By the end of the day, we were worn out, templed out, ready for a swim and then back to Haven, the social enterprise we'd been to on the first night, for dinner.
